A sad first day of school

Ryan has not been looking forward to school starting back up. He's always been my shy quiet child. The complete opposite of Gabe. Gabe never had any problems going to school, he is always excited to learn and create things and meet new people. Ryan on the other hand is just like his mama. He would be perfectly content to stay at home all the time and just be with his family. He'd much rather play and run than sit and do anything crafty. He likes to learn through play. We love Blessed Beginnings Preschool and I know that Mrs. Jenny and Mrs. Sherri will be great with him this year. He was a little sad on his first day, but his teachers said he did great. He still is having a hard time when I drop him off, but he's happy and excited when I pick him up. He always says that he had fun at school. He does know a few kids in his class so I think that makes it easier. These are the only pictures I got from the first day of school. He was not a happy camper and did not want to take pictures. Before we left for school he told me very matter of factly, "I am not going to school today!" Aren't these pictures sad?
Ryan and his friend Remi...he wouldn't even smile for her

More Football...

Ryan cracks me up when we watch football. Whenever there is a game on tv he always goes and puts on a football jersey and a helmet and he walks around with his football. I took these pictures of him watching the OU vs BYU game. Every time they would start a play he crouch down like he was playing and then he'd run all over the living room like he was on the field with the football players. It was so cute!
Gabe wanted to wave a flag "like they do at the OU games". So he went to his room and found a Thunder flag we got at a basketball game last year. And then he came up with this silly idea to stick it in his helmet. It was pretty funny....

The OU football season has started. It's always an exciting time of year in our house. We have season tickets this year so that means we've been taking the boys to the football games. We only have three tickets so we can only take one kid at a time. Which I think is great because that place is so crazy packed I really couldn't imagine taking more than one kid! So we take one kid to the game and the other two stay with Meme and Papa. (They're the greatest!) But whoever gets to go to the game usually gets jealous because the other two get to spend an afternoon with my parents. You can never win with my kids! :) Gabe got to go to the first game with Matt and I. And it was a wet game! It rained the entire time. Gabe was a good sport though. He made it a whole 5 minutes into the first quarter before he told us he was ready to go home. But we got him a big bucket of popcorn, which he ate under his poncho, and he was good for another quarter. I didn't get any pictures of Gabe's first game because of all the rain, but hopefully I'll get some good ones the next time he goes.
Last week Ryan went to the game with us. He did pretty w
ell. He was more interested in what the football players were doing than Gabe was, but he got bored pretty fast. He actually fell asleep in the first quarter. I don't know how he slept through all that noise but he was out! He fell asleep on my lap so I was stuck
sitting down for most of the first quarter. If you've ever been to an OU football game you know that you can't see a darn thing unless your standing. Everyone stands for almo
st the entire game. We left before half time but we had a really great time. This is a tradition I'm really excited to see continue over the years. Kate will have to wait until she's a little older to join us, maybe next season....

Party Time!

We had Kate's birthday party at Southlakes Park. Let me just say, I was so excited about having an outdoor birthday party. We all have winter birthdays. So I've never been able to plan an outdoor party. And we couldn't have asked for a nicer day! It was perfect!! We cooked out some me hamburgers and hot dogs and just had a great time with friends and family. Kate couldn't care less about what was going on but her mama was happy! ;) I found the cutest little tutu for Kate and I made a little tank top with a big 1 on it for her to wear. She looked so cute!! The kids had a good time playing on all the toys and it was nice to have something that occupied their time. When it was time to open presents Kate wanted complete control over her presents. There was this one present that was wrapped with wrapping paper. It was a tiny box and she was insistent on taking all the paper off and doing it all by herself. She would grunt at us if we tried to help her. When it came time for cake she made another HUGE mess. But she was still cute!!

Kate got some great gifts. Lots and lots of clothes! We love clothes!! She also got some pretty fun toys and books to play with! She got her first pair of Nike tennis shoes from her Aunt Kimmie. She also got a bracelet and necklace from our friend Stephanie. She loves wearing them. She'll always lift her wrist up for me to look at. She loves it when I tell her she's so pretty. I think her favorite toy was some stacking rings she got from my grandparents. The day after her birthday she literally played with those rings all day. It
was so cute!

Happy Birthday, Kate!!

Kate celebrated her first birthday on August 19th. Since her birthday fell on a Wednesday we had a nice quiet party at home with just the five of us. We saved her big family party for the following Saturday. On her actual birthday we ate dinner at home, Kate opened her present and then she got to enjoy her very first birthday cake. She had a great time opening her present. She didn't want any help, she wanted to do it all by herself. We got her a little learning table. It has lots of buttons to push with lots of lights and sounds. She loves it! After she opened her present it was time for cake. We got her her own mini cake to eat. She didn't eat much of it but she did make a huge mess of it! She loved playing in all the cake and icing. While she was eating her cake she got a little moody on me. This video I've added cracks me up especially when she makes that funny face of puckering up her lips. I swear I've watched this video a thousand times and every time it makes me laugh!!

Football is in the air...

It's that time of year and my boys have been enjoying playing some football in the front yard. Matt loves teaching them the correct way to throw a ball, catch a ball, run with the ball, and tackle. Gabe loves learning how to do all these things the correct way. And Ryan just plays with everything he's got. It's so much fun to watch. Here are a few pictures...
