My first 5K!

I hate running.  I've always hated running.  When I played basketball in jr. high and high school that was the worst thing. Suicides were my nemesis.  I'm a horrible runner, but for some reason about 6 months ago I started running on a regular basis.  I downloaded the Couch25K app on my phone and slowly but surely made my way up to running a 5K.  This weekend I put my practice to the test at my first official 5K.  My friend Kari and I signed up for the Color Me Rad race.  It's a fun race where they bomb you and spray you with different colors while running.  It really was a fun run!  I'm so glad I was able to do it with Kari! Can't wait to do it again!

It's Raining!

We haven't had much rain this summer.  So when it rained last week we took advantage!  I had seen some on Pinterest about painting in the rain so I decided we would try that.  I had an extra canvas and some powdered tempura paint.  We sprinkled the paint on the canvas and then left it out in the rain.  It started out looking really cool, but I think we left it out there too long.  Eventually most of the paint just washed off the canvas.  The art project was kind of a bust, but it was a perfect "play in the rain" kind of day!  No thunder or lightening and it was nice and warm!  So I busted out the camera and took some pictures (of course) while the kids were playing!  They were drenched when it was all said and done!  I love days like this!

Stranded at the Drive In...

We had such a fun night out at the drive in the other night!  We started the night at Del Rancho.  It seems to be a tradition for us to visit this restaurant before the drive in.

After dinner we met some friends at the drive in.  The Peterson's are such a fun family to hang out with!  We always have a great time when we're with them!  The kids all get along and best of all there's no drama when we hang out!  Isn't that the best? We got to watch Brave (cute movie!) and The Avengers (the boys loved it!).
I love how Kate is surrounded by boys here and she
looks like she's loving it!
After the first movie was over we had a little bit of car trouble!  Our battery died!  Thankfully we found some jumper cables and we were able to get it started again.  So there for a while we were literally "stranded at the drive in"!

4th of July

Happy 4th of July!

I can't believe how fast the summer is zooming by!  We had such a fun 4th of July!  We went down to the lake the weekend before the holiday to celebrate with family.  On Saturday we entered the 4th of July Golf Cart Parade.  Gabe really wanted a golf cart with a Statue of Liberty theme so crazy Meme ordered a huge cardboard cut out to attach to the cart.  It took a little bit of critical thinking to figure out how to get it attached but we did it!  And we even won first place for Most Patriotic!  There were lots of other cute themed carts from the Flintstones, to a beach theme with a blow up pool attached to the top, to a Red Solo Cup cart!  Gabe was so excited that they won 1st place!  The rest of the weekend consisted of a lot of boating, swimming and tubing.  And on our last night there we went fishing and caught quite a few!  I even got to catch a few!  We came home on the 4th and popped just a few fireworks of our own and then headed over to Matt's dad's house to watch the city fireworks from his yard.  It was a fun time!

I love seeing all three of my kids
chatting on the back of the golf cart like they're the best of friends!
